When Emma and Matt booked us, they were planning a Newcastle wedding. Shortly after, Emma called me – they’d decided to change the location to Bathurst, would that be a problem? Uh, NO WAY is that a problem! We LOVE shooting far afield! And Bathurst is such a grand old dame, we knew there’d be lots of gorgeous places to photograph.

Froxy in the National Film and Sound Archives

Oh hai! Long time no blog. A non-wedding, non-family post today… we shoot other people too, you know!

Some of our other projects in the last little while have been musical – we Froxy Ladies now have two album covers under our belts.

The first is the cover for The Last Kinection’s latest album, Next Of Kin. This was a bit of a dual project – the shoot was not only for the album cover but also for inclusion in the amazing bodypainting calendar Xanthe photographed in 2010 for the beautiful, talented and very sadly missed Fairy Emilie of Fairy Good. And last week we heard the amazing news that The Last Kinection were invited to include their albums in the National Film and Sound Archives as an example of Australia’s contemporary culture. So Froxy are now preserved in the national archives!

Sadly the beautiful Em died last year and so she’s not here to see her work memorialised in this way, but it’s a fitting memorial to her talent and inspiration and and sheer amazingness.

Also, Naomi recently photographed the album art for Fire In The Wind, the latest release from rising country music star Victoria McGee, which was launched during the Tamworth Country Music Festival last month.

We met Racheal when she was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Denae and Steve and she had such fun she pretty much booked us on the spot. Rach (or Humpzilla as she came to be known) and Adam have a liking for the 1920s and so they decided to have a Charlie Chaplin-themed engagement shoot. You may already have seen the silent movies from their session here and also here.

And the zombies I promised? Well, the hoot coincided with the annual Zombie March, and we like nothing better than to feed our hapless couples to the ravening dead. Wait, did I really just say that?

A Merewether Wedding

We had amazing light for Stacey and Grant’s engagement photos and we had similarly fantastic conditions on their wedding day, which was sunny, and beautiful, and funny, and full of laughs and love. The ceremony and reception were both held at the revamped Merewether Surfhouse overlooking the beach and it was such a pleasure to photograph them!

This little chicklet is the brand spanking new – and *very* delicious/delightful/delovely – addition to the family of some friends of mine. I spent several hours snuggling this one today – I claimed it was to help her get to sleep for photos but in reality it’s because I am clucky. Cluck cluck!

If she’d poo’ed all over me (instead of just both her parents, heh heh) I’m sure that would have taken care of the clucks. Instead, she just yawned a lot, snoozed a little, and poked out a totally ZOMG EPIC outtie bellybutton. Seriously. It’s like a go-go-Gadget bellybutton. I LUFF IT.

Prepare yourself for some squishy newborn goodness!

And two of them got married. But you won’t get to see the aquatic pair till tomorrow; they deserve their own post, for reals.

Following on from yesterday’s post of Sam and Joe’s wedding in Maitland, here’s the second part of the story. And loads of dancing. And an awesome sequence of the bouquet toss.

Sometimes, when you’ve had a beer or two – eh, Tom? – it’s hard to work out how to take a photo of the hubcap without getting your own reflection in it…

Such a musical pair, these two… you can tell that music fills their lives, day in, day out.

The Grandparents all took pride of place above the cake table at the reception.

Sam’s dad warned Joe that she was addicted to a substance that she likes to ingest in large quantities in powder form, sometimes inhaling; that it’s very expensive and she will tear the house apart to get it:

See? Joe even sang for his bride (but not for his supper).

This is Newcastle musician Mark Wells. He and his awesome band ROCKED the house. The dance floor was completely packed for hours, and people only took breaks to go to the bar and drink before coming back for more dancing.
